The main idea behind Amechi is to explore indigenous African traditions, textiles and cultures and reimagine them with fresh, fun and exciting items that add character to any contemporary space.

After feeling unsatisfied with the range of West African-inspired home décor currently on offer due to its heavily influenced colonial undertones, we decided to look into the pre-colonial part of our history and make that the focus of our brand identity. We intend to use our platform to educate and inspire our community through the products we create, and to enrich others with knowledge of our collective African cultural heritage. We are excited to share what we have in store with you!

Our design inspiration travels the continent, discovering the varied and amazing indigenous cultures which we then share with you through our own interpretations.

Our first collection, Kirdi, was inspired from our native Nigeria and Cameroon.
