“After struggling to find African inspired home decor that wasn’t repetitive and which I would love to have with pride in my own home, I started Amechi, with a mission to explore the different indigenous cultures from my mixed heritage and from around the continent, rooted in rich traditions - and interpret them in beautiful designs that would grace the most elegant of contemporary homes” Amechi Mandi

Amechi Asafo flags throw blanket

Check out ASAFO, our new collection of throw blankets.

The Asafo collection celebrates the artistry and cultural significance of Asafo flag culture, a tradition of the Fante people of Ghana. Captivated by their vibrant imagery and rich history, we created a series of throw blankets with playfulness as our main motif, to evoke the same curiosity that the flags inspire in us. Each blanket unfolds an imagined story, woven with humour and designed to spark curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the rich iconography of Fante Asafo flags. The collection bridges the past and present, bringing the distinctive charm of Asafo art into the modern home. Versatile and easy to care for, these throws are perfect for cosying up, decorating, or even adding flair to a picnic or wall.

Finials for your Asafo wall hanging.

While planning for the launch installation of our Asafo collection, we had the idea of exhibiting them as wall hangings which then led to the idea of attaching finials to the rods. Namely finials inspired by linguist staff used by interpreters to Fante kings. We’ve always been in love with these finials and thought what better way to showcase them alongside the blankets. Much to our delight, the finials were quite an attraction! Many visitors loved the display and enquired about the availability of the finials . We're thrilled to announce that, by popular demand, the finials are now part of the Asafo collection!

Each finial is meticulously handcrafted in Ghana by skilled local artisans, ensuring authenticity and a touch of cultural heritage in every piece.
